Do you not have a lot of time to spare to water your houseplants? If so, Australis Hoya, is the perfect choice to add to your collection. This succulent, native to Australia, is a perennial vine that has waxy, oval-shaped leaves and is celebrated for its striking bunches of ivory and pink stellate, or star-shaped, flowers that have a sweet fragrance. This evergreen climber will add color and style to any book shelf or desk as it gracefully cascades downward.

Best Locations For Growing Australis Hoya

Confused about where to place this plant? Australis Hoya will do well in any room that offers bright indirect light; temperatures hovering around 60°; and moderate to high humidity. A bathroom, for example, can be a prime location.

Australis Hoya Sunlight Requirements

Australis Hoya does well in bright indirect light to low light. A south-facing or east-facing window will provide ample amounts of bright light for this evergreen succulent; however, if exposed to direct light, its verdant leaves may suffer from sunburn. During periods of direct light, scoot this tropical plant several feet away from any windows.

Australis Hoya Care

Creating a good starter home for this plant is simple. Buy a 6-inch pot and fill it with neutral to slightly acidic, well-draining soil. You can make your own succulent potting mix by amending average house plant potting soil with peat moss and sand/perlite. This soil recipe should help avert fungal diseases such as root rot.

Hoya australis does not require frequent pruning. If you choose to trim this tropical vine, however, to encourage bushier growth, it is beneficial to do so during the beginning of the growing season in spring and after the conclusion of the blooming season.

Australis Hoya does not require frequent repotting. If, however, this evergreen perennial appears to be rootbound, simply repot this succulent into a pot that is one to two inches larger than the old pot.

Watering Australis Hoya

Australis Hoya requires infrequent watering. During the growing season in spring and summer, this tropical vine will need to be watered about every 10 days. During the fall and winter months, however, the need to water will be even less frequent, about once every 14 days. To avert fungal disease, check the moisture level prior to watering. Simply insert your finger one inch below the surface of the soil. If the soil is dry, then, water. If not, then, wait a day or two and do another moisture check.

Feeding Australis Hoya

Typically, Australis Hoya is not a voracious eater. Fertilize this evergreen with a balanced fertilizer about once every two months during the growing season, but avoid feeding this tropical vine during the fall and winter.

Plant Addicts Warranty - 1 Year (Extra Purchase Required)

We encourage all plant lovers to purchase the Plant Addicts Warranty, whether you're a new gardener or an expert. There are many variables outside of anyone's control that can cause a plant to die. Hungry animals, drought, poor soil conditions, over watering, diseases & pests are all good examples of what can cause plants to die. The Plant Addicts Warranty is a 1 year warranty protecting you from all of the unknowns and will replace your plant if something were to happen to it.

The warranty is purchased on a per plant basis and must be purchased at the same time as the plant(s). We will cover 100% of the price of the plant, but the warranty does not cover shipping costs. SImply let us know if your plant has died within 1 year of receiving it and we will get you a new one shipped out as soon as possible (depending on the time of the year and availability). We may ask for photos for documentation purposes, but we try to make the process as easy as possible.

Guarantee and Warranty

Plant Shipping

Below are some factors we consider when determining when to ship the plants depending on the timing of the order.

Winter to Early Spring

We ship only when it's warm enough to plant in your growing zone.
Sometimes plants aren't completely ready to sell and ship in early spring. We will wait until the plants are ready before shipping so you don't get a subpar product.
For Southern plants we will be able to ship much earlier than plants coming from our northern nursery.

Summer

If there is extreme heat we may delay shipping for a week or several weeks.
We review what areas the plants are traveling through as well as your location.

Fall into Winter

We’ll ship plants out all the way up to the end of the fall planting season!

Winter

Get your order in early to reserve your plants for Spring planting!

Once your plant is shipped you’ll receive an automated email with tracking information.
