Big Blue Liriope, Liriope muscari ‘Big Blue’, is a hardy, grass-like perennial that provides year-round interest in the landscape. In summer, it produces showy spikes of violet-blue flowers that rise above dense clumps of arching green foliage. The blooms are followed by shiny black berries that persist into fall and winter, adding another layer of texture and color. Often used as edging, borders, or groundcover, Big Blue Liriope is a versatile, low-maintenance plant that thrives in a wide range of garden settings.
Big Blue Liriope Care
Plant in average, medium-moist, well-drained soil for best performance. Water regularly to establish, then continue with weekly watering during the growing season. Once established, it tolerates occasional dry conditions. To keep plants vigorous, divide clumps every 2 to 3 years in early spring before new growth and blooms appear.
Big Blue Liriope Spacing
Space plants about 18 inches apart when planting in borders or mass plantings. This allows the clumps to fill in and create a lush, uniform look over time.
