Best Locations For Growing Candy Corn Plant
You can grow this lovely tropical in a hanging basket once it starts putting on new growth. Keep daytime room temperatures between 65 and 75 degrees F, and avoid letting evening temperatures drop below 50 degrees F.
Candy Corn Plant Sunlight Requirements
Provide bright direct to indirect sunlight, preferably 5 or more hours of indirect sunlight through south, east, or west-facing windows. This plant will do well in bright settings. If you notice your plant isn’t blooming well, move it into brighter light.
Candy Corn Plant Care
Candy Corn Plant prefers soil that is light, well-draining, and slightly acidic. Candy Corn Plants can get quite big in an ideal environment, so trim the vines back in spring by half to help promote new growth and keep the plant compact and full. Remove spent flowers to promote more flowering the following season. It enjoys being slightly pot-bound, but if you see the roots growing out of the drainage holes, it’s time to repot. Select a new pot only 2 inches larger than the original. Propagate Candy Corn Plant by stem cuttings.
Watering Candy Corn Plant
Keep Candy Corn’s soil moist during the active growing season from spring through fall, and significantly scale back watering during the winter months. If you notice wilted leaves, give it a drink. If you notice leaves getting soft and dropping off, you may be overwatering, so allow the top inch or so to dry out in between waterings. Use room temperature water.
Feeding Candy Corn Plant
Use bloom-boosting fertilizer diluted to half strength twice a month during the growing season, spring through fall. Choose a formula with higher phosphorous to promote flowering. No need to fertilize this plant in winter.
