Espoma Organic Compost Starter enhances home composting with its specially formulated blend of microbes. It is designed to accelerate the decomposition of manure, grass, leaves, and food waste into rich, fertile humus quickly. Compost Starter contains billions of microbes specially cultured to speed the decomposition of difficult to compost organic matter. These are combined with the proper energy sources and pH balancers to assure composting success. Safe for people, pets, and the environment.

How To Apply

1. Site Selection: Choose a partially shaded, level area at least 4' x 4'.

2. Initial Setup: Layer twigs and branches for airflow, making the layer 6-12 inches deep.

3. Add Compost Starter: Use 1 cup of Compost Starter for every 16 square feet of the layer.

4. Moistening: Lightly moisten each layer without soaking. Add additional waste, Compost Starter, and moisture with each new layer.

5. Turning: Turn the pile weekly to ensure air circulation.

Tips

• Shred waste to speed up composting.
• Compost kitchen scraps, leaves, and grass clippings. Avoid composting meat scraps to deter pests.
• Address most issues by adding more Compost Starter and turning the pile.
• If you detect a foul odor, increase turning frequency to improve aeration.
