Green Queen Pothos (Epipremnum aureum, Devil’s Ivy) is a very popular houseplant, found in the homes of new plant parents and collectors alike. This low-maintenance classic has vibrant-green, heart-shaped leaves on sturdy, fast-growing vines. Pothos is amazing as a hanging plant, attached to a trellis, or trailing in any number of creative ways. One benefit of this Pothos is that it is tolerant of a wide range of lighting, making it a popular leafy option for those with limited windows or in offices with only overhead fluorescent lights.

Best Locations For Growing Green Queen Pothos

Because the Green Queen Pothos can tolerate both bright and low light, it can be placed pretty much anywhere in a home or office. Let this Pothos trail across a bookcase, brighten up a bathroom, or liven up a bedroom dresser. The Green Queen makes a great office plant, able to tolerate overhead fluorescent lights as long as it receives several hours of that light a day. Pothos are toxic, so care should be taken when bringing them into homes with pets and children.

Green Queen Pothos Sunlight Requirements

The amount of light a Pothos gets will determine how quickly it can grow. When looking for fast growth, place Green Queen in front of a north- or east-facing window, or slightly away from a south- or west-facing window. This pothos burns easily in direct sunlight, so be sure to place it in a spot where it is protected from afternoon sunlight. Green Queen can easily survive in the interior of a room as well as many feet from a bright window.

Green Queen Pothos Care

Another great benefit of Green Queen Pothos is that it requires little maintenance. When watered regularly, this Pothos variety can grow quickly. To limit the vine’s size, the ends can be trimmed and added to water for propagation. Pothos can remain in the same pot for at least two years at a time. When ready for repotting, choose a pot with drainage holes that is an inch or two larger than the previous and use a well-draining potting soil. When Pothos experiences drought, its oldest leaves may yellow and fall off, making the plant look sparse and leggy. To return Pothos to a fuller state, trim any leggy vines toward the base of the plant and add to water. Once the cuttings root, they can be added back into the pot to fill out the mother plant or added to new pots, creating a whole new plant.

Watering Green Queen Pothos

Pothos is a plant that needs a medium amount of water. Allow the top few inches to dry before watering deeply, until water comes out the drainage holes of the pot. The frequency of water will depend on light, temperature, and humidity. In brighter light, Green Queen may need water as frequently as once a week. In lower light, Pothos can go a couple weeks before watering. It is important to feel the soil before watering to avoid root rot.

Feeding Green Queen Pothos

Green Queen Pothos will benefit from regular feeding during its growing season. In the spring and summer months, add liquid houseplant fertilizer into your watering routine about once a month. Always make sure you are following dilution recommendations, as high concentrations of fertilizer can damage plant roots and leaves. There is no need to fertilize in the winter when plants are not growing as actively.

Guarantee and Warranty

Plant Shipping

Below are some factors we consider when determining when to ship the plants depending on the timing of the order.

Winter to Early Spring

We ship only when it's warm enough to plant in your growing zone.
Sometimes plants aren't completely ready to sell and ship in early spring. We will wait until the plants are ready before shipping so you don't get a subpar product.
For Southern plants we will be able to ship much earlier than plants coming from our northern nursery.

Summer

If there is extreme heat we may delay shipping for a week or several weeks.
We review what areas the plants are traveling through as well as your location.

Fall into Winter

We’ll ship plants out all the way up to the end of the fall planting season!

Winter

Get your order in early to reserve your plants for Spring planting!

Once your plant is shipped you’ll receive an automated email with tracking information.
