Growing Zones
Instant drama, zero fuss. Hollywood Juniper grows with naturally contorted, windswept branching and dense, blue-green foliage that reads like living sculpture. Whether you’re framing a modern entry, anchoring a coastal garden, or flanking a driveway, this upright evergreen delivers bold form and four-season color without demanding constant pruning.
Hollywood Juniper Tree Care
Plant in full sun (6–8+ hours) and well-drained soil—sandy, loam, or amended clay all work if drainage is good. Water regularly the first season to establish; afterward, this juniper is drought tolerant and prefers deep, occasional soakings over frequent light sips. Avoid wet feet.
Mulch 2–3" to moderate soil temperature, keeping mulch a few inches off the trunk. Fertilizer is optional; if growth seems sluggish, feed lightly in early spring with a balanced, slow-release formula. Minimal pruning is needed—snip out any wayward shoots after the spring flush to preserve the signature, windswept silhouette.
Salt-, wind-, and air-pollution tolerant; deer typically pass it by. Hardy roughly in USDA Zones 5–9.
Hollywood Juniper Tree Spacing
Mature size is typically 12–20 ft tall and 6–8 ft wide (older specimens can be larger). For a screen or windbreak, plant 5–7 ft apart on center; for individual statement trees, allow 6–8+ ft of open space so the branching can show.
Near drives, paths, or walls, keep 4–6 ft of clearance for airflow and maintenance. In large containers, use one plant per 20–24"+ pot with excellent drainage and a heavy base or caddy for stability in wind.
