The Jonesii Air Plant, or Tillandsia Jonesii as it is botanically named, is a stunning air plant that is bound to get noticed. Producing thin green foliage with a purple tinge and purple flowers on a red flower spike, it really is an attractive specimen. Originating from Brazil, the Jonesii Air Plant prefers a warm and humid environment and is easy to care for.

Best Locations For Growing Jonesii Air Plant

The Jonesii Air Plant will grow in any room, as long as it is kept warm and away from temperature fluctuations. Just make sure it is placed somewhere it will be appreciated.

Jonesii Air Plant Sunlight Requirements

Tillandsia air plants require bright, but indirect sunlight. The Jonesii Air Plant is no different and can be placed near an east- or west-facing window. However, avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

Jonesii Air Plant Care

The Jonesii Air Plant is best kept at a temperature of 65 - 85 °F. Preferring a humid atmosphere, this air plant also requires good ventilation to remain healthy. Dead or dying foliage can be cut away by making a slanted cut using a pair of clean and sharp scissors. Regular misting is recommended to prevent the plant from drying out.

Watering Jonesii Air Plant

Preferring high humidity, the Jonesii Air Plant will benefit from being submerged for 15 to 30 minutes in harvested rainwater once or twice a week. After watering, it is important to allow the plant to dry completely before replanting. Regular misting is advisable, especially in warmer conditions.

Feeding Jonesii Air Plant

Feeding your Jonesii Air Plant is not strictly necessary, but it may help encourage it to bloom and produce offsets for propagating. If you do choose to feed your Jonesii Air Plant, use a specific Bromeliad or Tillandsia fertilizer as instructed, as over-fertilizing your air plant may damage the foliage.
