The Let’s Dance® Sky View™ Hydrangea is a compact, reblooming bigleaf hydrangea that produces gorgeous sky-blue mophead flowers. Its large flower clusters open pale blue-green with honeydew-green eyes and mature to vibrant sky blue.
This Proven Winners® cultivar sets blooms on both last year’s wood and new shoots, so it continually flowers from mid-summer well into fall. Plants stay only about 2–3’ tall and 2–4’ wide, forming a neat mound of dark green leaves that’s perfect for containers or tight garden spots.
Let's Dance® Sky View Hydrangea Features
-
Continuous Blooms: Blooms on old and new wood means nonstop color from summer through fall.
-
Sky-Blue Flowers: Huge mophead clusters open pale blue-green and mature to brilliant sky blue. For the deepest blue, plant in acidic (ericaceous) soil or add aluminum sulfate to the soil.
-
Compact Size: Grows only ~2–3’ tall by 2–4’ wide, making it ideal for containers, borders, or small gardens. Hardy in zones 4–9 (withstands down to –30°F).
-
Easy Care: Heat-tolerant and disease-resistant, this hydrangea thrives in moist, well-drained soil. It needs only regular watering and a yearly mulch; remove spent blooms after flowering. Do not hard-prune in spring – this plant carries its winter buds for next year’s flowers.
-
Versatile Use: Long-lasting blooms are perfect for fresh-cut or dried arrangements. Use in mixed borders, mass plantings, or large containers to create a standout, blue-flowering focal point in the garden.
Let's Dance® Sky View Hydrangea Care & Planting Tips
Plant Let’s Dance® Sky View™ Hydrangea in full sun to part shade (at least 4–6 hours of sun daily) for best flowering. It prefers consistently moist, well-drained soil – apply mulch to conserve moisture. To ensure those big flowers stay bright blue, keep the soil acidic (a special ericaceous mix or a dose of aluminum sulfate will lock in the blue hue).
Feed with a balanced fertilizer in spring if desired. After blooming, simply remove faded flower heads. Avoid heavy pruning in winter or spring, since it blooms on old wood; trimming can be done just after the first flush of flowers.
With its easy-care habit and profuse sky-blue blooms, the Let’s Dance® Sky View™ Hydrangea is a proven performer in home gardens. Add one to your yard for a reliable splash of blue all summer and fall!
Let's Dance® Sky View™ Hydrangea Spacing
Over time, the Let's Dance® Sky View™ Hydrangea can reach a size of 2 to 3 feet tall and 2 to 4 feet wide. If grown as an informal hedge or in a group, you can plant this hydrangea at a spacing of 2 to 4 feet apart depending on how closely you would like it to knit together.
