With its compact habit and robust, round leaves that are green with a red margin, it is perfect for growing on a table or a desk. As a slow-growing succulent, it does not need much care and will put up with a fair bit of neglect. Originating from the tropics of South and Central America, it likes to be kept warm.
Best Locations For Growing Red Edge Peperomia
This plant can grow well under natural or fluorescent light and is a great choice for brightening up an office space. Being non-toxic it can equally be grown at home.
Red Edge Peperomia Sunlight Requirements
The Red Edge Peperomia can be grown in medium to brightly lit conditions. However, as with most houseplants, avoid any direct sunlight that can harm the wonderful foliage.
Red Edge Peperomia Care
This Red Edge Peperomia is easy to care for and will grow well in most conditions. It will happily tolerate average humidity levels and is happy in most rooms, but will benefit from occasional misting if it is grown in a dry indoor space. Temperature-wise, this succulent prefers a range of 65-80 °F, just as long as it is away from any cold drafts. If the characteristic red leaf margins start to fade, that is nothing to worry about; the plant is just telling you it would like a bit more light. Pruning isn’t strictly necessary, although if any leaves start to brown or die, they can simply be removed using a clean, sharp pair of scissors.
Watering Red Edge Peperomia
Being a succulent, this plant is almost drought resistant and watering is only recommended when the soil has nearly dried out. Avoid overwatering this plant, and make sure the soil and pot drain well. Where possible only use harvested rainwater, which is free of any chemical compounds.
Feeding Red Edge Peperomia
The Red Edge Peperomia is a light feeder and does not need supplementary feeding. Nevertheless, to get the best from this plant and to keep it healthy, feed it twice yearly from the spring until fall with a very diluted houseplant fertilizer.
