Growing Zones
A deciduous shrub, this weigela bush is known for its bright pink flowers. These flowers are unlike most blooms, in that they’re tubular in nature. This bush is a pollinator’s dream, especially for bumblebees that are known to take a nap in tubular blooms. What makes this particular shrub special is the fact that it flowers nearly all season, starting in the spring and ending in the fall.
The Strobe Wiegala is hardy in zones 4 to 10. The foliage will reflect the season, green during the spring/summer and eventually turning orange in fall, with a red farewell before falling off. This bush is a fan favorite of hummingbirds, and will attract them all season. It is easy to care for, given its compact nature.
Strobe Weigela Care
This perennial will thrive in either full or partial sun, but for the most beautiful blooms, full sun is beneficial. This plant is easy to care for, given its compact nature. Especially during establishment, this plant requires watering to ensure that the roots are moist, but an average amount of water thereafter. If your plant is in a container, it will dry out more quickly and thus require more water. This weigela shrub would work nicely in a bordered landscape.
Pruning is not necessary. This shrub is mounding in nature and will continue to grow and bloom all season.
Strobe Weigela Spacing
This shrub reaches about three feet high, and should be spaced about three feet apart as well. It grows both vertically, and horizontally, in a mounded fashion.
