The Tillandsia Tricolor, also called the Tricolor air plant, has foliage that will blush red and create beautiful flower spikes with adequate sunlight. It has sturdy, pointed leaves that grow in a rosette shape from a bulbous base. In nature this plant is found in warm, humid climates of Mexico and Central America.

Best Locations For Growing Tricolor Air Plant

The Tillandsia Tricolor will be happy growing in any window with bright light. It prefers high humidity and good air circulation. If your home is dry, consider misting the air plant daily. Alternatively, place it in a bright bathroom window for extra humidity from the shower.

Tricolor Air Plant Sunlight Requirements

In order to grow a healthy plant, provide it with plenty of bright sunlight. In nature, this plant receives bright, indirect light. Two or three feet away from a south-facing window, or near an east- or west-facing window is ideal.

Tricolor Air Plant Care

The Tricolor is an easy-to-medium care plant. It requires no soil, but can be picky about watering. Keep your air plant hydrated by misting it daily with distilled water.

Watering Tricolor Air Plant

The Tricolor air plant likes regular watering on a weekly basis. Fill a bowl with distilled water and submerge the plant for about 30 minutes. Shake off the excess water, and return it to its window.

Feeding Tricolor Air Plant

Feed this plant every two to three weeks with a diluted liquid fertilizer. Misting with an orchid spray fertilizer every two to three weeks is ideal.
