The Variegated Standleyana Albo Monstera (Monstera standleyana 'Albo Variegata', also called Philodendron Standleyana) is a rare but uncomplicated plant wrapped up in one stunning package. The leaves of this plant are deep forest green and spattered, sometimes streaked, with white and cream. Perched on thick green and cream vines, this climbing plant can reach up to 20 feet long in its native habitat, though it stays rather compact indoors. Like other Monsteras, Standleyana Albo is easy to care for when provided with plenty of bright indirect light and regular water.

Best Locations For Growing Variegated Standleyana Albo Monstera

With its uniquely shaped leaves and shocking variegation, the Standleyana Albo is a plant you will want to show off. Place this Monstera in a bright living room window and allow it to hang from a corner hanging basket, or give it a coco pole or trellis to climb. The more bright indirect light this plant gets, the more showy variegation will appear on new growth. Monsteras are toxic when ingested, so take care when placing the Standleyana Albo in a home with pets and children.

Variegated Standleyana Albo Monstera Sunlight Requirements

The Standleyana Albo will grow best and provide the most variegation when kept in bright indirect light. Place this plant in an east-facing window or slightly away from a south- or west-facing window, protected from harsh direct afternoon sunlight. While this Monstera thrives in bright light, its leaves can burn from intense sunlight. In lower light, the growth may be stunted, variegation will be limited, and the vines can become leggy.

Variegated Standleyana Albo Monstera Care

The Standleyana Albo is generally an easy-going plant, growing well in average household temperatures and humidity. In the winter, when our homes are drier, place this plant on a pebble tray or near a humidifier, or mist the leaves regularly to help boost humidity and keep the leaves from drying out. The Standleyana Albo can remain in the same pot for up to two years. When ready for a new pot, choose one that is 1-2 inches wider than the previous and has drainage holes. Monsteras grow best in an aroid soil, which is often made up of orchid bark, perlite, coco coir, and other such airy, well-draining ingredients.

Watering Variegated Standleyana Albo Monstera

Allow the top inch or so of soil to dry out before watering the Standleyana Albo deeply, until water flows out the bottom of the pot. The frequency of watering will depend on light, temperature, and humidity, though will generally be about once a week in warmer months. Cut back watering a bit during the winter months when plants are growing less vigorously.

Feeding Variegated Standleyana Albo Monstera

The Standleyana Albo will benefit from regular fertilizing in the spring and summer months when the plant is experiencing the most growth. Add a liquid houseplant fertilizer into your watering routine once a month, taking care to follow dilution instructions to avoid over-fertilizing. Too much fertilizer can cause the roots and leaves to burn. Fertilizing in the winter is not necessary as plants will often go dormant.
