Autumn Fire™ Encore® Azalea (Azalea x ‘Robleg’ PP#28279) is a compact, slow-growing dwarf evergreen shrub prized for its brilliant year-round appeal. This reblooming azalea produces striking 2.5-inch, fire-red flowers in spring, with repeat blooms continuing through summer and into fall. As cooler weather arrives, the glossy green foliage deepens into rich purple tones, extending seasonal interest into winter. Its tidy, mounded habit makes it an excellent choice for foundation plantings, borders, small hedges, and containers.
Autumn Fire Encore Azalea Care
Plant azaleas slightly high in the soil to ensure proper drainage. Autumn Fire performs best in acidic, well-drained soil, which can be amended with chelated iron if needed. Keep the soil evenly moist until established, and avoid letting it completely dry out during the first growing season. Fertilize in late winter or early spring with a fertilizer formulated for acid-loving plants to encourage vibrant blooms. Prune only as needed to shape the plant, and wait until after the first flush of spring flowers has finished. Although Encore azaleas tolerate full sun to part shade, this variety thrives best with morning sun and afternoon shade when possible.
