Growing Zones
Blush Pink Nandina (Nandina domestica ‘AKA’) is a compact, mounded evergreen shrub with striking pink new growth that fades to light green, providing four seasons of interest. In fall and winter, the foliage takes on brilliant pink and red tones, creating a standout feature in any garden.
This versatile shrub works beautifully as an accent, in shrub borders, mass plantings, or as an informal, low hedge. Its small size also makes it ideal for edging and smaller landscape spaces. Blush Pink Nandina tolerates some shade, though foliage color is best in sunny locations with afternoon shade. Also known as Heavenly bamboo.
Blush Pink Nandina Care
Plant in well-drained, moist soil and water regularly until established. Once established, the shrub is drought tolerant. Fertilize with a balanced fertilizer in early spring. In colder zones, cut back to the ground in early spring if dieback occurs.
Blush Pink Nandina Spacing
For shrub borders or mass plantings, space 3 feet apart from center to center. For informal or low hedges, plant 2 feet apart, measured from the center of each shrub.
