The Blushing Drift® Rose, botanically known as Rosa Blushing Drift® 'Meifranjin', is hardy and features dense, light pink, double-petal blooms. This compact, deciduous rose bush blooms all summer long and reaches 1.5 feet tall by 3 feet wide. The foliage is glossy, dark green and the blooms are light powdery pink with warm-yellow centers. Blushing Drift® showcases its blooms from spring to frost.

This rose has a spreading habit, making it an ideal groundcover. This low-maintenance plant is very drought tolerant and disease resistant when established, and it’s cold hardy to -20 degrees Fahrenheit. These roses look stunning mass planted in beds and borders or planted alone in the garden. Blushing Drift® Rose is also ideal for informal gardens, naturalized areas, and pollinator and wildlife gardens.

Blushing Drift® Rose Care

You can improve light, sandy, gravelly, or chalky soils by adding garden compost before planting. Add a slow-release, general-purpose fertilizer or compost upon planting your shrub. You can add garden lime to highly acidic soils. Plant in full sun areas such as hills, open areas, or southern exposures. Roses thrive in direct sun and in rich, moist, slightly acidic, well-drained soils.

Keep your rose plant moist until its roots establish; this can take approximately 6 weeks. Then water it about every 2-4 days, at a minimum of once per week. After the first bloom season, your rose plant should be well established and can tolerate being watered only during extended periods without rain. In order to tell if the plant needs water, check the moisture of the soil around the roots. If the soil feels dry, give it a good soak, trying to avoid wetting the leaves and petals.

You should tackle pruning during the early spring before buds appear on your roses. Typically this is around March or April. In fall, prune your plant to shorten longer stems on the bushes, which will keep them from snapping in the wind. Deadhead your roses weekly to help direct the plant’s energy into new shoots and more flowers.

Blushing Drift® Rose Spacing

For best results, space these roses at least 3 feet apart so they have room to spread. For mass plantings, they can be planted slightly closer together without a problem.
