These berries are also attractive to birds. The leaves are neat and oval. This is a shrub that pairs well with anything. It is drought and salt tolerant.

The foliage is a deep green with bright green new growth. It is loved for its berries as well which appear and last all winter, bringing a festive look to your yard! Its mounded form and refined texture is what sets it apart from the crowd. This shrub will attract birds in the winter and bees in the spring. It has a height of four feet and reaches a spread of five feet. It is the perfect ornamental shrub. It does well with mass planting and is great for ground cover. It works well for border planting or short hedges. The Dwarf Yaupon Holly will bring color to your space all year. This one can be planted as a thriller in containers.

Dwarf Yaupon Holly Care

Caring for your new shrub is simple. Plant in full sun to part shade. It will thrive best in moist soils that are well drained. It does require more acidic soils but is not picky about type. Mulching around its base in cooler climates will protect its roots through winter. Fertilizer should be applied in the spring. Pruning is not necessary but pruning to shape or maintain size is tolerated. Pruning should take place in the winter.

Dwarf Yaupon Holly Spacing

When planting as a border plant, a hedge, or near other plants, spacing should be two to three feet, center on center. When planting near structures or pavement, plant at a minimum of three feet from edges.
