Mature Height

Mature Spread
For late summer and fall interest, try the whimsical Medusa Ornamental Pepper. Highly attractive, the Capsicum annuum 'Medusa' produces masses of long pointed fruits in shades of red, orange and yellow that contrast well against its dark foliage. A final height of up to 12 inches makes this ornamental pepper a winner for fall containers.
The Medusa Ornamental Pepper forms a compact and neat mound of large dark green leaves before its fruits begin to form. As a tender annual, you will want to keep it protected until the frosts have passed and the soil warms up. The Medusa Pepper is perfectly suited to growing in a sunny courtyard or on a deck in a container. Alternatively, why not try placing it at the front of a border for an unexpected burst of color?
Medusa Ornamental Pepper Care
Full sun and fertile, well-drained soil will help this ornamental pepper thrive and develop its colorful fruits. Water it regularly, but allow the soil to dry out slightly between sessions, as it does not tolerate soggy soil. You can support fruiting by feeding with a potassium-rich formula once the flowers appear. Pruning is not necessary, but you can pinch out the growing tips to encourage branching.
Being tender, the Medusa Ornamental Pepper will not survive freezing temperatures. In colder parts, you can overwinter it indoors on a sunny windowsill.
Medusa Ornamental Pepper Spacing
The Medusa Ornamental Pepper remains compact with a mature size of 6 to 12 inches tall and wide. Multiple specimens can be planted with a spacing of 8 to 12 inches apart.
