Plum Perfect is a gorgeous floribunda-type rose guaranteed to make your garden the perfect place for attracting pollinators. Sunbelt® Roses are bred to perform well in high heat and humidity without slowing their blooming or fading out like older varieties. Each flower stem on Plum Perfect holds a mass of double flowerheads that continue producing from early summer to late fall and make instant bouquets when cut for an arrangement.
Plum Perfect has high resistance to pests and diseases and will retain clean, dark green foliage all summer. The compact size makes this shrub great in the garden or a container for a deck or patio. Try mixing Plum Perfect with other cool-colored perennials, such as hardy geraniums and Russian sage, to lend a calming effect. Alternatively, Plum Perfect would look dramatic as part of a monochromatic planting with Obsidian coral bells and Ruby Glow euphorbia.
Plum Perfect Sunbelt® Floribunda Rose Care
Floribunda roses prefer a full sun location with well-draining soil that holds moisture consistently. Amend any heavy or light soils with organic compost before planting. Ensure that drainage of the garden bed is good, even in the winter. Roses will die quickly when exposed to waterlogged soils in the winter. Plum Perfect will benefit from regular fertilizing to support the heavy flower budding. Apply a granular fertilizer formulated for roses once in the spring as the new foliage emerges. Apply again as the first flowers open. Specific rose fertilizers have a higher ratio of phosphorous and potassium to nitrogen. Look for an NPK ratio of 1-4-2.
Pruning can be done at least one month before the first hard frost for your gardening zone. Cut out any diseased or dying branches. Crossing branches must also be removed to provide air circulation inside the shrub. Remove any sucker shoots from the base of the rose. Sucker shoots are easy to see since their leaf pattern is usually different from the graft. Well-established roses will not require frequent watering through the summer unless they have curled or drooping leaves early in the morning. Mulch over the graft union with 4-5 inches of arborist chips or compost for added insulation during the winter.
Plum Perfect Sunbelt® Floribunda Rose Spacing
The smaller size of Plum Perfect is handy for smaller gardens or container growing. The mature height is 2-3 feet with a 1-2 foot spread. Plant multiple roses 2 feet apart between centers. Container-grown roses will need at least a 12-inch diameter pot.
