Strawberry Hill Climbing Rose is a nonstop bloomer that delivers loads of old-fashioned Rose fragrance. The spreading branches of Strawberry Hill overflow with masses of exquisite, fully double flowers from late spring to fall. This is a modern rose that requires no extra maintenance or complicated fertilizing schedules. This pale strawberry pink bloomer climbs readily along a pergola, arch, or other free-standing trellis in a quiet and restrained manner, never growing more than 10 feet tall.

Use Strawberry Hill Climbing Rose to climb over a trellis or free-standing obelisk for the ultimate fragrant backdrop for a deck or patio seating area. This rose is also ideal for adding height to a traditional rose garden or cottage garden setting. This award-winning climber was bred for excellent disease and pest resistances, as well as cold hardiness, allowing this plant to thrive in USDA hardiness zones 4-10.

Strawberry Hill Climbing Rose Care

Strawberry Hill appreciates well-draining soil that stays consistently moist and has moderate nutritional value. Support nonstop blooming by fertilizing in the spring as the new growth appears and again as the flower buds swell. Choose an extended-release formula marketed for roses and other blooming shrubs. Mulching annually with organic compost and well-rotted manure provides a steady diet of nutrients and helps the soil to retain moisture longer.

Partial to full sun exposure is needed for dependable blooming and deep glossy foliage. Water this rose with drip irrigation lines or soaker hoses to keep moisture away from the foliage and reduce the risk of disease.

Prune this rose during the late winter when you can see the entire framework of the plant. Remove any stems that are growing in the wrong direction or tie them into a support structure. Annual pruning will help to encourage flowering all along the plant stems. Deadhead as needed during the flowering season to keep the plant tidy and encourage new buds to form fully.

Plants growing in containers may benefit from extra insulation during the winter months. Wrapping the pot in layers of burlap or horticultural fabric (Remay) will protect the root system and the pot. In colder areas, place this rose in a sheltered position to minimize exposure to wind and winter storms.

Strawberry Hill Climbing Rose Spacing

Although this Rose can reach heights of 10 feet, the overall width remains manageable at 4 feet. Plant this climber with a support that provides attachment points for the branches and allows good air circulation. Plant other shrubs or perennials at least 4 feet from the base of Strawberry Hill.

Container-grown plants will need a deep, bottom-heavy pot to prevent any toppling as the plant matures. Select a pot with a 20-inch diameter and 5-gallon capacity to house Strawberry Hill rose.
