The sumptuous dark foliage of the Summerific® Cookies and Cream Rose Mallow provides the perfect backdrop for its pure white flowers. This Hibiscus hybrid 'Cookies and Cream' might be smaller than other mallows but it certainly doesn’t lack impact when it blooms. Growing to around 3 feet tall, it has a long blooming season that will not disappoint.
Originally from North America, the Summerific® Cookies and Cream Rose Mallow is considered winter hardy in zones 4 to 9. It might come into leaf slightly later than others in the spring, but it is so worth the wait. Being deer resistant, it is ideal for rural areas and is known to attract hummingbirds. This shrub is perfect for adding color to a border or creating a focal point.
Summerific® Cookies and Cream Hibiscus Care
Although able to tolerate partial shade, the Summerific® Cookies and Cream grows best in full sun. It favors fertile soil that is moist, yet free draining. It prefers consistent moisture, so frequent irrigation, especially for the first two growing seasons is key. To support its long blooming season, you can apply a potassium-rich feed from early summer.
Regular deadheading will help provide a neat and tidy appearance. In the spring, you can remove any old foliage before new growth begins. Mulching annually with compost will help give the plant a boost and conserve moisture over the hottest months.
Summerific® Cookies and Cream Hibiscus Spacing
When mature, the Summerific® Cookies and Cream Hibiscus can grow to a maximum of 3 feet tall and 4 feet wide. A spacing of 42 - 48 inches between plants is recommended to allow each plant to mature and thrive.
