The Autumnale Fuchsia is all about colorful foliage. This easy-care annual features gold-colored leaves that transition to orange and purple hues as the summer progresses. The broad leaves come to a point and feature pronounced and colorful veining. This plant grows in low light, so it is a great choice to brighten up a dark corner of your yard.
This Fuchsia is grown for its colorful foliage. The medium-sized Autumnale Fuchsia has a trailing growth habit, so the stems will continue to reach and push out the bold and brightly colored foliage, creating a showy display. Fuchsia do well in containers, and they look particularly amazing in hanging baskets or window boxes.
Autumnale Fuchsia Care
Plant in part shade. The Autumnale Fuchsia needs some light, but it will be content to receive about 4 hours of sunlight per day. Fuchsia are thirsty plants that like constantly damp conditions. Water before the soil starts to dry out but use well-draining soil because the plant does not like to have wet feet. The soil should be rich and have a neutral to acidic pH. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer every couple of weeks during the growing season.
Fuchsia can be demanding, but this plant can overwinter indoors. Place in a sunny window and use a humidifier or a pebble tray with water to increase the moisture in the air. Water when the top layer of the soil dries out.
Autumnale Fuchsia Spacing
Autumnale Fuchsia will grow 10 to 12 inches tall and 12 to 18 inches across. This annual typically does best in a container, so plant one or two Fuchsia in a 10- to 12-inch container. Fuchsia can be spaced 12 to 18 inches apart if planted in the ground.
