Lantana Bandana Cherry (Lantana camara) is one tough beauty and the butterflies and hummingbirds just love them! These tough, full sun beauties grow best in USDA hardiness 10 to 11 and the blooms never stop. Although they perform more like a tender perennial, they are often grown as a warm season annual in many parts of the US. Blooming spring through the first frost, lantanas put on an exceptional display of beautiful cherry color. Growing 12-26 inches in height by up to 24 inches in spread.
Lantanas have a vigorous growth rate and have a wonderful mounding habit. They are a great addition to any garden, especially pollinator gardens. They are heat and drought tolerant and the deer do not seem to care for them. They are ever blooming with no need for deadheading. These easy care beautiful bloomers are both heat and drought tolerant. Use as a border plant, groundcover and in mass plantings in the landscape. In a mixed planting container, it can be used as a thriller but does not perform well in small containers. Also grows well in hanging baskets and window boxes and in all sorts of other combinations.
Bandana® Cherry Lantana Care
Lantana Bandana Cherry is an easy care, low maintenance annual or tender perennial. It requires full to partial sun for the best blooms and performance and grows in USDA hardiness zones 10 – 11. It has a low water use and tolerates most any soil type. Plants benefit from a slow release fertilizer in landscape beds and regular water-soluble liquid fertilizer applications in container planting but are not heavy feeders. Tired looking plants can be rejuvenated with an overall trim with pruning shears back to 1/3 of the plant size.
Lantana Bandana Cherry can be grown as a perennial in mild winter climates that do not get hard freezes. They will not do well indoors but will perform well in containers on high light patios and porches. Flowers will last the entire growing season.
Bandana® Cherry Lantana Spacing
Lantana Bandana Cherry is a low growing groundcover that only reaches 12 - 26 Inches in height and spreads up to 24 inches. Spacing should be 12 - 24 inches in landscape beds. In containers, space 10 – 12 inches apart.
