A sun‑washed palette of tropical sunrise stripes, warm honey tones, and shell‑pink fan blooms gives the Beachside Drive Combination instant coastal charm from late spring until frost. Calibrachoa hybrid ‘Superbells Tropical Sunrise’, Petunia hybrid ‘Supertunia Honey’, and Scaevola aemula ‘Whirlwind Pink’ weave a cascading skirt of color. The mix trails up to two feet, and packs nonstop flower power that never needs deadheading. Hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies swarm the nectar‑rich blooms for lively porch or patio viewing all summer long.
Native to South American and Australian coastal regions, the components shrug off heat, salt spray, and humidity, making them superb choices for seaside gardens or inland hot spots. The petunia, calibrachoa, and scaevola spill and fill with a mounded‑trailing habit, perfect for hanging baskets, patio tubs, or window boxes. This Proven Winners recipe was trialed for balanced growth, synchronized bloom times, and matched vigor, so you can drop the liners into one pot and enjoy professional results without the guesswork.
Beachside Drive Combination Care
Plant each liner in a 14‑ to 16‑inch container filled with high‑quality, well‑drained potting mix amended with slow‑release fertilizer. Position the pot where it receives at least six hours of direct sun; four hours plus bright reflected light will also work, but color intensity is best in full exposure. Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry—containers may need daily drinks during peak heat—then feed every week with a water‑soluble bloom booster to keep the flowers coming. No deadheading is needed; if the show slows in midsummer, shear the foliage back by one‑third and follow with fertilizer to spark fresh growth.
In frost‑free Zones 10–11 the plants can overwinter as tender perennials, though most gardeners treat the combo as an annual, replanting each spring for maximum vigor and color. In cooler climates, bring the pot into a bright, frost‑free sunroom before the first hard freeze to extend enjoyment for several extra weeks.
Beachside Drive Combination Spacing
For the lush look pictured, tuck all six plants into one 14‑ to 16‑inch container, evenly spacing two liners each of Supertunia Honey, Superbells Tropical Sunrise, and Whirlwind Pink around the rim. Reduce the count to one of each variety if using a smaller container. When massing in landscape beds, allow 24 inches between the spreading annuals to let their mounded skirts meet without crowding.
