Impatiens are a popular, low-maintenance plant, particularly in yards with shady areas, and the Beacon™ Coral Impatiens will not disappoint. The Impatiens walleriana features flat, 5-petal blooms that are showy yet still understated. The coral hue adds a bright burst of color to a landscape all summer long, while the dark green foliage with slightly scalloped edges provides a sharp contrast against the bold flowers.

Impatiens are mounded annuals that are common in landscapes and containers. Use this medium-height plant near the middle or front of a garden bed. This plant does well near buildings or trees that cast shadows and block intense sunlight. Feature Impatiens in a container where it takes on the role of filler.

Beacon™ Coral Impatiens Care

The ideal spot for Impatiens will receive part shade, so about 4 hours of sunlight each day. Impatiens have average water needs and like to stay somewhat damp, although well-draining soil is essential. Use slightly acidic soil with a pH of 6.0 - 6.5. Apply a balanced all-purpose fertilizer during the growing season to promote more flowers.

Bring Impatiens indoors for the winter. Cut the plants back by half or until the stems are about 3 inches long. As houseplants, Impatiens need medium indirect light and water when the top couple of inches of soil dry out.

Beacon™ Coral Impatiens Spacing

The Beacon™ Coral Impatiens will reach 14 to 18 inches tall and spread out 12 to 14 inches. Space plants 8 to 10 inches to create a full mass planting. A 10- to 12-inch container is big enough for 3 to 4 Impatiens.
