Impatiens are profuse bloomers known for bold flowers and their ability to thrive in partial shade. The Beacon™ Rose Impatiens are a variety of Impatiens walleriana, and these low-maintenance beauties feature an abundance of 5-petal flowers in a deep pink hue. Glossy, dark green leaves with a gently scalloped edge surround the blooms. This annual continues to bloom from planting until frost for brilliant color all season long.
You will generally find Impatiens in containers or landscapes. These mounded plants do well in low-light areas, so they thrive near tall plants or buildings that create partial shade. When used in a container, Impatiens are a bright filler that can add a burst of color to a porch or patio. The Beacon™ Rose Impatiens will reach 18 inches in height, so plant this annual near the front or middle of a bed where the flowers will be easy to see.
Beacon™ Rose Impatiens Care
Plant Impatiens in part shade to shade; generally, about 4 hours of sunlight is enough. Use rich, slightly acidic soil that promotes drainage. Impatiens like damp conditions, especially when grown in containers. Impatiens typically need water once a week in the ground, but in a container, plan to water a couple of times each week or when the top layer of the soil starts to dry out. Feed the plants using balanced fertilizer during the spring and summer.
Impatiens can live as houseplants during the winter. Trim the plants back to prepare them for life inside and place the potted plants in a spot with medium, indirect light. Water the plants when the top few inches of soil are dry.
Beacon™ Rose Impatiens Spacing
The Beacon™ Rose Impatiens are a medium-height plant that grows 14 to 18 inches tall. The flowering branches will reach out 12 to 14 inches. About 3 or 4 Impatiens can be grown in a 10- to 12-inch container, or space plants 8 to 10 inches apart when grown in the ground.
