Beth's Blue® plays well with others in mixed borders and pots. A lovely, delicate-looking plant, it has ferny, green leaves with interesting fine texture. The plant has a mounded habit, upright branched stems, and a profusion of dainty, star-shaped flowers that bloom just above the foliage. Each fragrant blossom is 1 1/2 inches across and has five lobes. Plant this award winner in late spring and it will bloom through summer until frost.
Beth's Blue® thrives in dry heat. It has few pests, attracts bees, and repels deer and rabbits. A member of the campanula (bellflower family,) Isotoma axillaris is an annual herb of Australia and New Zealand. Use as an edging plant, a mass planting in the landscape, or as a filler in combination pots and window boxes. It is ideal for the mixed flower border. It looks nice spilling over retaining walls.
Beth's Blue® Star Flower Care
This easy-care plant is self-cleaning, so it does not need deadheading. Plant it in well-drained, average soil in full sun to partial shade.
Beth's Blue® requires a medium amount of water. Shearing in midseason encourages more flowers.
Beth's Blue® Star Flower Spacing
If you are growing it in a border or mass planting, space the plants 8 to 12 inches apart. It has a spread of 10 to 14 inches.
