  • Popular Bell Pepper For Early Maturity
  • 24-30 Inches Tall
  • 12-18 Inches Wide
  • Plant in Full Sun

Bell peppers smack of delicious cool crunch in summer salads and dishes. Better Belle Pepper makes fresh bell peppers available to nearly anyone with their small and quick growth. The compact plants grow well in patio containers, producing fruit nearly 5 inches long in a shorter time than most bell pepper plants (about 65 days). The plants reach 18 to 24 inches high and wide, so they are perfect for containers or adding to sunny garden bed spots. The small whitish flowers and red and green fruit make Better Belle as pretty a plant as it is useful.

As a sweet bell pepper, Better Belle lies at the bottom of the Scoville rating for heat, but has a tasty, thick wall of sweet fruit. It's not easy to develop a bell pepper that is ready to eat sooner than most but that still has good flavor. Better Belle Pepper is popular for its early and all-season production of tasty bell peppers. It also is bred to resist tobacco mosaic virus, which can afflict some pepper plants.

Better Belle II Pepper Care

Hot and sweet peppers love heat and full sun. Plant Better Belle Pepper well after frost has passed and when nighttime temperatures reach at least 60 degrees. Whether growing in a garden bed, raised bed or container, plant the bell pepper in soil that drains well and is rich with organic matter such as compost. Heat the container or ground soil in advance with full sun and a dark mulch or wrap. As the plant grows, support it if necessary. Space Better Belle Peppers at least 18 inches apart.

Growing Better Belle II Pepper

Place Better Belle Pepper where it gets lots of sun and warmth. Avoid planting it in the same garden spot where any peppers, tomatoes or other members of the nightshade family grew last year. Better Belle Pepper performs better in containers than most bell pepper varieties. They do not grow very well indoors, however. The peppers need more sun and heat to grow and thrive than is inside most homes.

Plant Better Belle in a container at least as wide at the mouth as the plant will be when full size (18 to 24 inches) and at least 18 inches deep to make room for the roots. Be sure the container has good drainage. Water slowly to avoid washing important nutrients out of the container's soil.

Watering Better Belle II Peppers

Water Better Belle well right after planting and give it regular but moderate water all season. Water deeply and slowly even for plants in the ground. The pepper needs consistent water but doesn't like soggy soil at the root level.

Feeding Better Belle II Peppers

If the container or garden bed has enough organic matter such as compost or composted manure, Better Belle Pepper will need little else. If desired, add a balanced vegetable food a few weeks after planting and no more often than every 2 weeks.

Plant Addicts Warranty - 1 Year (Extra Purchase Required)

We encourage all plant lovers to purchase the Plant Addicts Warranty, whether you're a new gardener or an expert. There are many variables outside of anyone's control that can cause a plant to die. Hungry animals, drought, poor soil conditions, over watering, diseases & pests are all good examples of what can cause plants to die. The Plant Addicts Warranty is a 1 year warranty protecting you from all of the unknowns and will replace your plant if something were to happen to it.

The warranty is purchased on a per plant basis and must be purchased at the same time as the plant(s). We will cover 100% of the price of the plant, but the warranty does not cover shipping costs. SImply let us know if your plant has died within 1 year of receiving it and we will get you a new one shipped out as soon as possible (depending on the time of the year and availability). We may ask for photos for documentation purposes, but we try to make the process as easy as possible.

Guarantee and Warranty

Plant Shipping

Below are some factors we consider when determining when to ship the plants depending on the timing of the order.

Winter to Early Spring

We ship only when it's warm enough to plant in your growing zone.
Sometimes plants aren't completely ready to sell and ship in early spring. We will wait until the plants are ready before shipping so you don't get a subpar product.
For Southern plants we will be able to ship much earlier than plants coming from our northern nursery.

Summer

If there is extreme heat we may delay shipping for a week or several weeks.
We review what areas the plants are traveling through as well as your location.

Fall into Winter

We’ll ship plants out all the way up to the end of the fall planting season!

Winter

Get your order in early to reserve your plants for Spring planting!

Once your plant is shipped you’ll receive an automated email with tracking information.
