Guide: How to Care for Your New Plant(s)

Plant Addicts Warranty - 1 Year (Extra Purchase Required)

We encourage all plant lovers to purchase the Plant Addicts Warranty, whether you're a new gardener or an expert. There are many variables outside of anyone's control that can cause a plant to die. Hungry animals, drought, poor soil conditions, over watering, diseases & pests are all good examples of what can cause plants to die. The Plant Addicts Warranty is a 1 year warranty protecting you from all of the unknowns and will replace your plant if something were to happen to it.

The warranty is purchased on a per plant basis and must be purchased at the same time as the plant(s). We will cover 100% of the price of the plant, but the warranty does not cover shipping costs. SImply let us know if your plant has died within 1 year of receiving it and we will get you a new one shipped out as soon as possible (depending on the time of the year and availability). We may ask for photos for documentation purposes, but we try to make the process as easy as possible.

Guarantee and Warranty

Plant Shipping

Below are some factors we consider when determining when to ship the plants depending on the timing of the order.

Winter to Early Spring

We ship only when it's warm enough to plant in your growing zone.
Sometimes plants aren't completely ready to sell and ship in early spring. We will wait until the plants are ready before shipping so you don't get a subpar product.
For Southern plants we will be able to ship much earlier than plants coming from our northern nursery.

Summer

If there is extreme heat we may delay shipping for a week or several weeks.
We review what areas the plants are traveling through as well as your location.

Fall into Winter

We’ll ship plants out all the way up to the end of the fall planting season!

Winter

Get your order in early to reserve your plants for Spring planting!

Once your plant is shipped you’ll receive an automated email with tracking information.

Plants Included In Blended Family Annual Combination

Earth, wind and fire...all in the same basket! What a gorgeous color and texture combination these three tough annuals provide! The earthy burgundy, almost chocolate brown leaves of the coleus, with its chartreuse green outlines and frilly edges; the airy, lime green foliage of the sedum and the petite fire orange blooms of the bidens flower combine to make an outstanding display for your container garden.

Blended Family Annual Combination Care

All three of these sun to light shade tolerant annuals are very vigorous growers and will soon fill and spill over your chosen container, creating mounds of bright color for your patio or garden landscape. Like a family, they all have their individual strengths, but together they will exceed your expectations and draw many compliments from your friends and neighbors. Heat and drought tolerant, expect this combination to provide their best form all spring and summer, and may last until fall in warmer regions. Coleus is the most cold tender of the three of these plants and therefore may not last until fall in some cooler regions.

Also like a family, these three annuals have slightly different care requirements, but with a little effort on your part, you can put these three in the easy to care for category. Coleus needs consistently moist soil, but can thrive with a top dressing of well composted mulch. Bidens and Sedum both tolerate long periods of dry weather, but thrive as well with a regular watering regimen when in loose well draining soil. None of these annuals will tolerate wet soggy soil, so work to find a happy medium that allows all to be at their best. Once established, all three annuals will respond to periodic feeding with a water soluble fertilizer.

Blended Family Annual Combination Ideas

When choosing a patio container for this combination, look for a larger 14 inch diameter one. This will allow you to plant the three 4 ¼ inch pot plants and give them 10 to 12 inches of spacing. If you go with the larger 8 inch size pot, look for a larger container to allow you to give adequate room for growth. Your plants will quickly fill, spill and thrill in your patio container.

Because all three annuals are vigorous growers, pruning may be required to keep them within bounds. Pinching them back once first established will give you the much appreciated branching and/or budding, and a mid season shear will help to refresh the foliage or flower budding capacity and give renewed growth during the hotter months of summer. By adding a spike feature in the center of a larger planter, you can create an even more dramatic display. Look at Angelface Super Blue Angelonia angustifolia for a dramatic addition to this lovely combination.
