A summer mainstay for all regions of the country, geraniums will add that wow factor that you have been looking for, and Boldly Hot Pink geranium will tick off all the boxes on your spring garden list for color and will upstage other geraniums making you rethink the color pink!
This mounding annual is native to South Africa and Australia Zones 10a to 11b so it is heat and drought tolerant. Zones 3 to 9 will enjoy spring and summer long blooms and with care and practice, you may be successful in overwintering the roots to give you a fresh display in the spring once again. It requires a good bright location with full to part sun for 6 or more hours.
Boldly Hot Pink Geranium Care
A systemic continuous fertilizer added to container plants will keep your geraniums flourishing, as well as a soil pH of 6.0 to 6.5. Average watering schedules will do, and keep an eye out for aphids and other insects. Address with insecticidal soap or light pesticide as required, but this is an easy care annual that will give you season long blooms.
Deadheading is required as the plant will slow blooming and needs help dropping its spent flowers. If plants get leggy, prune lightly to increase branching and budding for the best color. In the garden landscape, dressing with compost will reduce weeding and promote plant health.
Boldly Hot Pink Geranium Spacing
Give geraniums plenty of space to spread out, 12 to 20 inches is fine. They will reach 10 to 12 inches in height and make a great foreground planting for taller annuals and perennials or look great in mass plantings on their own. Pair with trailing annuals and contrasting color mounding annuals in your favorite container for season long color.
