Geraniums are popular plants because they are very easy to grow, and they’re absolutely stunning. Large, showy flowers are crisp white, grow in clusters, and gently hang above dense, green foliage. The Boldly® White Geranium blooms during the spring and summer and will be the focal point of the porch, patio, or yard it calls home. Geraniums require little care and look fantastic with a certain degree of neglect, but this plant responds well to care and will totally thrive with routine maintenance.
The stark white flowers will be the first part of the Boldly® White Geranium that catches your eye, but the dark green foliage is not to be overlooked. The broad leaves are slightly ruffled and feature scalloped edges, and provide a nice contrast to the blooms. This plant is drought- and heat-tolerant as well as being deer-resistant. Grow the Boldly® White Geranium in USDA zones 9, 10, and 11 as a perennial. The plant grows as an annual in other regions.
Boldly® White Geranium Plant Care
Water Geraniums when the top several inches of the soil feel dry. This plant likes to dry out, and well-draining soil is crucial to warding off root rot. The soil can be loamy and should have a pH of 6.0 to 6.5. Amend the soil with organic material or apply slow-release fertilizer when planting in the spring. Plants in the ground will benefit from monthly feedings, and container plants will do best being fed every other week. Find a sunny spot that receives at least 4 hours of sunlight a day. Plants that receive more light will need water more often, so consider that when scouting the ideal spot.
Trim back any overgrowth partway through the growing season. A light pruning will clean up the look of the Geranium and promote more blooms. The Boldly® White Geranium will die back with the first frost, but before the temperatures turn chilly, it can be dug up, cut back, and brought inside for the winter. If placed in a warm, sunny spot, Geraniums can easily live indoors.
Boldly® White Geranium Plant Spacing
Geraniums need some room to spread out, so space new plants 12 to 20 inches apart. Container-grown Geraniums can get closer, and a 12-inch container is large enough for up to 5 plants. This plant should be about 10 to 12 inches tall.
