After blooming, the leaves will change back to a medium green color. Brachycaulos Air Plant is a slow grower that looks great in a terrarium or as part of an indoor floral display. The only maintenance required is watering once a week.

Best Locations For Growing Brachycaulos Air Plant

Air Plants can be grown in just about any room of the house. Temperature requirements are 50 - 80 degrees F, and Brachycaulos Air Plants can be grown outdoors on a patio or deck during the summer. The smaller size of the Brachycaulos Air Plant makes it an excellent addition to a reptile tank or terrarium.

Brachycaulos Air Plant Sunlight Requirements

Brachycaulos can grow well in bright and shaded positions, although bright indirect light will help this Air Plant maintain its brilliant color while blooming. Brachycaulos can be grown outdoors during the summer as long as the nighttime temperature is above 50 F. Place this plant out of direct full sun while outdoors. Brachycaulos quickly burns in full sun. Dappled or bright shade is preferred while outdoors.

Brachycaulos Air Plant Care

Air Plants get all the nutrients and moisture they need from their surrounding environment. Ensure that the air does not dry out too much, and that airflow is good around where your Brachycaulos Air Plant is displayed. Mist your plant regularly with water to improve humidity, and keep it away from vents and drafty doors.

Watering Brachycaulos Air Plant

Air plants require weekly watering by being fully immersed in water for 10-20 minutes. The plant will absorb all of the water it needs into its leaves. Place the Brachycaulos on a towel for up to 4 hours after watering to let excess moisture dry. Daily misting with water is another way to water Air Plants. This also adds much-needed humidity. Make sure not to overwater Brachycaulos.

Feeding Brachycaulos Air Plant

Bromeliad fertilizer or Orchid fertilizer can be applied every 3-4 months. Dilute the fertilizer in water and substitute for a watering session. Supplemental fertilizing is not needed if you water with aquarium or pond water. This will supply nutrients at each watering.
