Bridal Veil® Agapanthus floats big, pure-white flower clusters neatly above a tight clump of strap-like leaves. It tops out around 12 inches tall and wide and behaves well in a pot, unlike most Agapanthus varieties. Also known as Agapanthus 'Monsapho', it was selected for its compact habit and dense flowering. Our team often suggests it for patios and front-edge beds when customers want clean white blooms that stay tidy.
Agapanthus is an evergreen perennial in warmer areas, although it may go partially dormant in cooler zone 7 winters. Bridal Veil® blooms in summer and the flower heads hold up well for cutting, especially when you take stems early in the morning. This variety tolerates breezy coastal sites and can help stabilize small slopes when planted in groups. Use it to edge a sunny walkway, repeat it in a low, modern border, or cluster several containers together to make a bright summer focal point.
Bridal Veil® Agapanthus Care
Grow it in full sun to partial sun, with at least 4–6 hours of direct light for the best flowering. Plant in average, well-drained soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH. If your soil stays wet after rain, raise the planting area or use a container so roots never sit in water.
Water when the top 3 inches of soil are dry, soaking thoroughly so moisture reaches the root zone. Once established, it handles mild dry spells better, but it flowers more consistently with regular deep watering during summer heat. Feed in spring before new growth begins, and provide a second light feeding after flowering to help reset the plant.
Remove spent flower stems down at the base to keep the clump tidy and to direct energy back into the foliage. If leaves get winter-burned or flattened, trim only the worst blades in early spring as new growth begins to show. Agapanthus blooms best when left alone, so divide only when the clump becomes crowded or flowering slows.
Bridal Veil® Agapanthus Spacing
Space plants 12–18 inches apart to form a low, repeating ribbon along the front of beds, or space closer if you’re creating a tight edging in a small area. For containers, a 10–12 inch pot fits one plant, while a 16–18 inch bowl can hold three for a fuller look. Pair Bridal Veil® with lavender, sea thrift, and boxwoods for a sun-loving landscape planting that stays neat in coastal or dry-border settings. In containers, try bacopa and verbena to spill over the rim without shading the crown.
