This big, bright purple flower will make your garden look colorful all season.Bright Lights™ Purple African Daisy has many attributes including tolerating heat, long blooming, and providing fall interest. It grows 8-12 inches high with a mounding habit that works well both in the landscape and in containers. This plant has won five awards as a top performer.
When Bright Lights™ is established, it tends to be drought tolerant. It has few diseases if it is kept healthy and stress free. Osteospermums are native to Africa and the Southwest Arabian Peninsula. Use Bright Lights™ in the mixed border or in mass plantings in the landscape. It plays the role of filler in containers. Try pairing Bright Lights™ with yellow or chartreuse foliage plants such as ‘Sweet Carolina Kiwi’ sweet potato vine.
Bright Lights Purple African Daisy Care
Fertilize regularly for best performance. Use a water-soluble fertilizer every 2-3 weeks in containers. Deadheading is not needed but you can trim them back occasionally if you wish. This plant likes full sun but will tolerate part shade.
Bright Lights™ doesn’t like wet feet so plant them in evenly moist, well-drained soil. Allow containers to become dry to the touch before watering.
Bright Lights Purple African Daisy Spacing
The plant has a spread of 8-12 inches. Space it 6-10 inches apart from other plants measuring center to center.
