Felicia Daisy Cape Town Blue is a true-blue flowering daisy with a contrasting yellow center. It blooms from spring planting to frost and is free flowering. It is heat tolerant, however, in hot climates, the blooms will slow down during mid-summer. Deer do not like this plant, so don’t eat it unless they are very hungry.
Felicia Daisy Cape Town Blue is native to South Africa. In addition to attracting butterflies, it attracts bees and other pollinators. In beds, containers, and borders, the bright blue flower catches the eye. While the upright growth habit makes it a filler in a container, it can also be used as a specimen plant in a container.
Cape Town Blue Blue Felicia Daisy Care
When planting the Felicia Daisy Cape Town Blue, put a layer of compost down or spread a slow-release fertilizer in the flower bed. This plant is drought tolerant once established, but regular watering will increase the blooms. Felicia Daisy Cape Town Blue loves the sun but will tolerate part sun. Felicia Daisy Cape Town Blue will grow in poor, well-drained soils, but it thrives in average, well-drained soils. It does not like wet feet.
A tender perennial, Felicia Daisy Cape Town Blue will freeze during the winter in most of the United States.
Cape Town Blue Blue Felicia Daisy Spacing
Felicia Daisy Cape Town Blue grows to 8-10 inches high, so may be placed behind or among ground covers and still be seen. It spreads to 10-12 inches wide, so it will be wider than it is tall. Keep in mind it needs to be spaced 10-12 inches from other plants when in beds, containers, or borders.
