- High Nutritional Value Cherry Tomatoes!
- 18-24 Inches Tall
- 24-30 Inches Wide
- Plant in Full Sun
The little (1 to 1.5-inch diameter) round, red tomatoes produced by this indeterminate variety are nutritional powerhouses. These cherry tomatoes have 30% more vitamin C and 40% more lycopene on average compared to other tomatoes. The fruit grows in bunches similar to grapes, but each fruit individually ripens.
Harvest these cherry tomatoes when they turn from green to red. The fruit on Cherry Punch Tomatoes typically ripens before that on other cherry tomato varieties. Pinch off flowers near the end of the season so the plant can direct its energy into ripening the fruit remaining prior to your first frost.
Cherry Punch Tomato Plant Care
Lycopersicon esculentum ‘Cherry Punch’ will be 20 to 24 inches tall and approximately 36 inches wide. Space individual plants 2 to 3 feet apart. Plant Cherry Punch Tomatoes in your garden after your last expected frost date in a full sun location. Tomatoes prefer to grow well-drained soil containing organic matter such as compost. Staking is recommended to keep the fruit off of the ground. Cherry Punch Tomato can be grown as an annual in USDA plant hardiness zones 3 to 11.
Growing Cherry Punch Tomato Plants
This smaller size tomato plant can be used in a typical garden setting and it is a fantastic choice for container gardens on your deck or patio. It can be even used to create an unusual hanging basket if your gardening space is limited. Use a container with a minimum diameter of 14 inches and a drainage hole.
Watering Cherry Punch Tomato Plants
Water Cherry Punch Tomato if it hasn’t rained at least an inch within the past week. Container grown plants will need more frequent watering since the soil in containers tends to dry out quickly. Try to avoid wetting the leaves when watering to reduce the threat of fungal diseases.
Feeding Cherry Punch Tomato Plants
Tomatoes grow quickly and are heavy feeders. Fertilize monthly with an organic fertilizer formulated specifically for vegetables as directed on the package.
