The rather distinctive-looking Chocolate Soldier Kalanchoe Tomentosa or Panda Plant as it is also aptly known, is a popular and easy-to-grow houseplant. Producing pale-green, fuzzy leaves that are edged with chocolate-colored spots, it will add interest to wherever it is grown. The Chocolate Soldier Kalanchoe Tomentosa is a perfect plant for any beginner growers as it requires little care and even thrives on a bit of neglect.

Best Locations For Growing Chocolate Soldier Kalanchoe Tomentosa

The Chocolate Soldier Kalanchoe Tomentosa is a fairly tolerant plant and can be grown in any room as long as it receives enough light. It is important to mention that this succulent is toxic and should be kept away from any children or pets.

Chocolate Soldier Kalanchoe Tomentosa Sunlight Requirements

Originating from Madagascar, the Chocolate Soldier Kalanchoe Tomentosa likes to receive at least 6 hours of bright indirect light per day. Do not place it in harsh direct sunlight as this can burn the leaves.

Chocolate Soldier Kalanchoe Tomentosa Care

Chocolate Soldier likes to be kept warm at a temperature of 60 ºF to 75ºF and can be placed outdoors during the summer months. Just remember to bring it back indoors as the temperatures begin to fall in autumn, as it will struggle if left outside in near-freezing conditions. Pruning this plant is rarely required, although if any yellow or leggy growth develops, the leaves can be cut away using a sharp knife or scissors that have been sanitized.

Watering Chocolate Soldier Kalanchoe Tomentosa

Being a succulent, Chocolate Soldier is designed to conserve moisture in its leaves and is relatively drought tolerant. When watering this plant, avoid wetting the foliage as this can encourage rotting. Only water when the soil is completely dry.

Feeding Chocolate Soldier Kalanchoe Tomentosa

The Chocolate Soldier Kalanchoe Tomentosa does not need any supplementary feeding. However, to give it a boost, a specific cactus or succulent fertilizer can be applied at a diluted concentration in spring.
