- Dark Green Pointed Leaves Have Hints of Silver
- Bright Indirect Light
- Mature Height 3 - 4 Feet
- Water Needs - Dry Out Between Waterings
This cultivar is a cross between a Hoya serpens and Hoya carnosa, making it similar to the Hoya Mathilde, aside from some visual differences. The Chouke Hoya has a dainty and lush appearance. The dark green, ovate leaves come to a pronounced point and slightly curl under. The foliage has a thick, waxy texture and a raised midrib. Silvery flecks stand out against the green foliage, providing subtle dimension. Medium green stems create a monochrome look.
Due to its semi-succulent leaves and charming flowers, the Chouke Hoya is also known as a wax plant or porcelain flower. Once mature, this pet-safe houseplant blooms with proper care. Clusters of white, star-shaped flowers have a fuzzy texture and an orange center.
Best Locations For Growing Chouke Hoya
The Chouke Hoya is adaptable and can live in most areas of the home, from the living room to the kitchen, bathrooms, or bedrooms. The Hoya Chouke naturally vines, so it grows well in a hanging basket or with a trellis or moss pole to climb. Hoyas are safe around curious children or pets because they are non-toxic.
Chouke Hoya Sunlight Requirements
Hoyas thrive in bright, indirect sunlight. Choose a spot that receives increased light but avoid direct sunlight, which will burn the waxy leaves. Several feet from a bright window is a good location for a Chouke Hoya. Plants in low light will become leggy and grow slowly.
Chouke Hoya Care
Chouke Hoya plants are easy to maintain and thrive when slightly ignored. Choose a container with drainage that measures a couple of inches larger than the root ball. Hoyas have shallow roots, so avoid deep containers. Use rich soil that promotes drainage. Trim dead or damaged growth. You can remove spent flowers but leave the stem where the flower clusters emerge because the Hoya will bloom from the same spot in the future.
Watering Chouke Hoya
Water the Chouke Hoya when the top layer of potting soil is dry. Hoyas store water in their thick, waxy leaves, so the plant prefers to wait for water. The plant will often need water every few weeks, but the conditions impact how often the plant needs water, so always check the soil dampness to determine when to water. Water immediately if the leaves appear wrinkled or shriveled. Remove overflow water from the saucer.
Average humidity keeps the Chouke Hoya happy and healthy. Increased humidity is fine, but monitor the plant in low humidity because it may be too dry. The Chouke Hoya naturally grows in subtropical climates, so it is at home in humidity levels around 60%.
Feeding Chouke Hoya
Hoyas are moderate growers, but routine fertilization helps them proliferate and push out lots of leaves on long vines. Feed the Chouke Hoya using a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer at half the strength recommended by the manufacturer every few weeks. Stop fertilizing when growth slows during the fall and winter.

If there is extreme heat we may delay shipping for a week or several weeks.
We review what areas the plants are traveling through as well as your location.
