Colorblaze Royale Cherry Brandy Coleus (Solenostemon scutellarioides) is grown for its maroon leaves. If it blooms at all, this cultivar blooms late in the summer. To improve the foliage, pinch off buds as they appear. Colorblaze Royale Cherry Brandy Coleus grows in full sun, part shade, and shade so it supplies a splash of color to shade gardens.
Technically an evergreen perennial, Colorblaze Royale Cherry Brandy Coleus is grown as an annual because it cannot stand even a little bit of frost. It is native to Southeast Asia and Australia. Colorblaze Royale Cherry Brandy Coleus can be grown as a houseplant, border, mass planting, landscape, or container. Its upright growth habit and maroon leaves make it a thriller in a container. Colorblaze Royale Cherry Brandy Coleus is heat tolerant and deer resistant.
ColorBlaze® Royale Cherry Brandy® Coleus Care
When planting Colorblaze Royale Cherry Brandy Coleus in the landscape, apply some compost or a slow-release fertilizer to the area to keep it growing all season long. If the plant is in a container, fertilize regularly with a water-soluble fertilizer. Colorblaze Royale Cherry Brandy Coleus needs to be kept moist but not soggy. This plant is not picky about the soil and can grow in average or rich soil. Colorblaze Royale Cherry Brandy Coleus can grow in the sun, part shade, and shade. If the humidity is low where Colorblaze Royale Cherry Brandy Coleus is to be planted, plant in part shade or shade.
Colorblaze Royale Cherry Brandy Coleus can be grown as a houseplant. You can also bring them in for the winter. In that case, you need to check each plant for diseases or pests and take care of that before it gets in the house. Place Colorblaze Royale Cherry Brandy Coleus in bright light inside. Since many homes have low humidity in the winter, it is necessary to augment the humidity level where the plant lives. Do this by putting pebbles in a saucer, fill the saucer to just below the top of the pebbles, and place the flowerpot holding the coleus on the pebbles. Make sure no water is entering the pot the coleus is in. The water will evaporate and make the area more humid. Check often to make sure the pebble tray doesn’t dry out. Colorblaze Royale Cherry Brandy Coleus will need to be hardened off before living outside in the spring.
ColorBlaze® Royale Cherry Brandy® Coleus Spacing
Before planting Colorblaze Royale Cherry Brandy Coleus make sure you have room for a mature plant that grows to a medium height of 20-30 inches tall. It can spread out to be 16-24 inches. Allow 12-16 inches between plants so they do not crowd each other. That restricts air movement and can lead to disease.

Plant Shipping
Below are some factors we consider when determining when to ship the plants depending on the timing of the order.
Winter to Early Spring
We ship only when it's warm enough to plant in your growing zone.
Sometimes plants aren't completely ready to sell and ship in early spring. We will wait until the plants are ready before shipping so you don't get a subpar product.
For Southern plants we will be able to ship much earlier than plants coming from our northern nursery.
Summer
If there is extreme heat we may delay shipping for a week or several weeks.
We review what areas the plants are traveling through as well as your location.
Fall into Winter
We’ll ship plants out all the way up to the end of the fall planting season!
Winter
Get your order in early to reserve your plants for Spring planting!
