Flowers can be fickle but the foliage is always reliable. ColorBlaze® Royale Pineapple Brandy™ gives a knockout chartreuse color all year long inside or out. Solenostemon scutellarioides is commonly known as coleus. This particular coleus forms a dense, upright habit of bronze stems with bright yellow and green foliage that lasts from Spring through Summer. Medium in height, this plant reaches 20 to 30 inches tall.
This coleus is sure to make a lasting impression. It is native to the tropical climate of Malaysia, so it thrives in hot conditions. It is admired for its luscious vibrant foliage that is unappetizing to deer. Coleus is a mint family relative and similarly has notable vigor and tenacity that is quite remarkable. Try ColorBlaze® Pineapple Brandy as a thriller in combination containers or experiment with its color to illuminate a garden bed.
ColorBlaze® Royale Pineapple Brandy Coleus Care
Versatile and vigorous, this coleus can handle full sun or full shade. It is not picky, requiring well-draining soil and it has average watering needs. Trim this plant back at any time, to promote branching and a compact form. Apply fertilizer or comport annually to garden beds and apply a regular fertilizing regime for container plants.
Coleus is a tender perennial in zones 10 to 11, but for more of the temperate zones, coleus is an annual. If left outside to overwinter, frost would be detrimental to this plant. To overcome this concern, overwinter Coleus as an indoor houseplant and enjoy it all Winter long.
ColorBlaze® Royale Pineapple Brandy Coleus Spacing
Give coleus ample room and space to grow. We recommend a 14 inch or larger pot when growing this plant in a container. Give this plant at least 12 to 16 inches of space when planting in any landscape site or container for best results.
