ColorBlaze® Wicked Hot® Coleus Care
Solenostemon Colorblaze Wicked is easy to grow and has average watering needs. Plants grown in container gardens, especially those placed in a sunny area, will need to be watered more frequently than plants grown in the ground or in shady container gardens. Add water-soluble fertilizer as directed on the label for best performance. Deadheading is not necessary, but many gardeners pinch off the blossoms as they form to keep the plant’s energy directed toward producing foliage.
This coleus is hardy in USDA planting zones 10 and 11. It is a good choice to bring indoors and overwinter as a houseplant. Before your first frost, select the healthiest looking plant(s) and spray them with insecticidal soap or neem oil. This will prevent introducing pests into your home. Your coleus will be happier indoors if you add humidity by either occasionally spraying the leaves with water or place the pot on a shallow tray containing pebbles and water. Be sure the bottom of the container is above the water surface. Fertilize in the spring when new growth appears. Slowly introduce your plant to the outdoors in the spring if you plan on moving it outside for the summer.
ColorBlaze® Wicked Hot® Coleus Spacing
Space the plant 18 to 24 inches apart in your garden. Be sure not to space is less than 15 inches apart in a container to give it room to grow to its full potential.
