Cryptocoryne Lucens is a versatile and striking aquatic plant with narrow, bright-green leaves and contrasting brown stems. It has a soft, delicate texture that makes it a wonderful foreground or midground plant. This plant is a great oxygenator and provides needed shelter and cover for fish. It’s a beautiful addition to any aquarium in the home or office. Cryptocoryne Lucens is easy to grow and maintain and propagates quickly by sending out runners. This plant is a native of tropical areas of India, Southeast Asia and New Guinea. 

Best Locations For Growing Cryptocoryne Lucens

This versatile little plant can technically be placed anywhere in an aquarium and thrive. However, it prefers a stable environment, such as when planted in a cluster in the bottom of a tank. Moving it frequently will likely cause stress. This plant prefers a pH range of 6 to 7.5, and water temperatures from 63 and 83 degrees Fahrenheit. It enjoys slow-moving freshwater. It’s a relatively slow grower that can be pruned for shape and size.

This plant prefers low to medium light conditions. It can be planted under overhanging leaves and stems of other plants or situated by itself. Too much light may encourage algae growth.

This plant, with its long, arrow-shaped leaves, offers stunning motion and movement in the circulation of aquarium water. Cryptocoryne Lucens can be grown in the open as well as being placed under the leaves and stems of larger plants.  This plant is easily propagated by dividing the primary plant into several smaller pieces. 

Watering Cryptocoryne Lucens 

As an aquatic plant, Cryptocoryne Lucens does not require any additional watering. As long as the plant isn’t showing any signs of obvious deficiency, it should not require continuous fertilizing.  It draws nutrients from the water in the aquarium as it returns oxygen to the water. 

Feeding Cryptocryne Lucens

Once this plant is situated, there isn't much else that needs to be done. They do not need additional fertilizer or CO2. This plant just requires a stable environment and a little patience, as it's a relatively slow-growing plant.
