Commonly known as the Chinese Evergreen Cutlass, the Cutlass Aglaonema produces slender and long green leaves, hence its name. Originating from parts of subtropical Asia, the Cutlass Aglaonema can be grown as a houseplant with relatively little care. As an air-purifying plant, it will not only help clean the air, but also soften any interior space with its stunning silver and dark-green foliage.
Best Locations For Growing Cutlass Aglaonema
The Cutlass Aglaonema will thrive in any indoor space as long as it receives enough indirect light and is kept away from any cold drafts. An office, study or living room is ideal.
Cutlass Aglaonema Sunlight Requirements
The Cutlass Aglaonema can tolerate most light levels, but will struggle when placed in harsh, direct sunlight. Moderate and diffused light is preferable, near an east- or west-facing window.
Cutlass Aglaonema Plant Care
The Cutlass Aglaonema plant prefers an environment with moderate to high humidity levels. Placing the plant on a wet pebble tray and regularly misting it will help it stay hydrated year-round. Regular wiping of the leaves with a damp cloth can keep the foliage looking its best. Any damaged or dying leaves can be cut away at the base of the stem using a pair of sharp and clean scissors. The Cutlass Aglaonema prefers a temperature range of 65–75 °F.
Watering Cutlass Aglaonema
This plant prefers moist soil, except during the winter when watering can be reduced. Cutlass Aglaonema should be watered when the top inch of soil is dry. Avoid overwatering, especially during the colder months as this can lead to root rot.
Feeding Cutlass Aglaonema
The Cutlass Aglaonema will benefit from a monthly feed of houseplant fertilizer during the growing season to promote growth and help maintain plant health.
