This mix of Daffodils for Shade adds yellow, white, and orange-cupped flowers to partially shaded sites from early through late spring. This specially selected mixture blooms at overlapping times on sturdy stems generally reaching 12 to 18 inches tall. Each pack contains 100 large 12–14 cm bulbs, creating substantial volume for woodland edges and tree-lined beds.

Selected for better performance with limited spring sun, these hardy daffodils grow in USDA zones 3–8 and gradually produce offsets that enlarge established clumps. They perform in full sun through partial or dappled shade. Plant them through woodland borders, along shaded fence lines, beneath deciduous trees, or among perennials that emerge later and eventually conceal declining bulb foliage. Deer, rabbits, squirrels, and voles generally avoid narcissus because the bulbs, leaves, and stems contain toxic alkaloids.

Set bulbs into the ground in fall, about 4 to 6 weeks before freezing weather, placing each bulb 5 to 6 inches deep with its pointed end upward. Choose a site receiving roughly 3 to 4 hours or more of direct or filtered spring sunlight; deep shade beneath evergreens usually reduces flowering. Well-drained loam with a slightly acidic to neutral pH around 6.0 to 7.0 is ideal, and compact clay benefits from added organic matter before planting.

Soak the planting area after installation, then add water during fall only when rainfall is scarce. In spring, established clumps usually only need supplemental irrigation during extended dry periods and prefer drier conditions once the foliage begins yellowing. Apply a low-nitrogen bulb fertilizer according to label directions as shoots emerge in spring, keeping concentrated fertilizer away from direct bulb contact. A 2-inch mulch layer can moderate winter soil temperatures.

Remove spent flowers after petals fade, leaving the stems and straplike foliage to continue feeding the bulbs for at least six weeks or until the leaves yellow naturally. Crowded colonies with declining bloom counts can be lifted and separated in early summer after the foliage has finished. Because every part of narcissus is toxic when eaten, store unplanted bulbs and place containers where pets and livestock are unlikely to disturb them.

Allow 4 to 6 inches between bulbs, arranging them in loose groups of 10 or more when developing a naturalized woodland or shaded-border planting. For containers, choose pots at least 10 to 12 inches deep with open drainage holes and a free-draining potting mix. Outdoor pots need winter chilling, but in colder climates they benefit from a protected unheated location that reduces repeated freezing and thawing around the bulbs.
