Dolce Fresca Basil is a full and lush plant that makes a lovely addition to a garden. Large, green, oval leaves grow from branched stems. The leaves can be harvested anytime and have a sweet and tender taste. Small, white flowers bloom on mature plants but these should be pinched back to redirect energy into the foliage. Also known as Ocimum 'Dolce Fresca', this basil plant has a mounded, upright growth habit.

Dolce Fresca Basil Plant Care

Plant Dolce Fresca Basil in the spring after there is no longer a chance of frost. Space plants about 12 to 14 inches apart so air can circulate around the foliage. Plant this herb in full sun in well-drained soil.

Growing Dolce Fresca Basil Plant

Mature plants reach up to 24 inches tall and up to one foot wide. The leaves can be picked and used fresh or dried at any time. Plants grown indoors should be positioned near a sunny window and may not grow as large.

The Dolce Fresca Basil Plant is an excellent container plant. Select a pot that is at least 10 inches in diameter and has drainage holes. Plants in containers need water daily or when the top couple inches of soil are dry.

Watering Dolce Fresca Basil Plant

This plant has average water needs and will need a drink every couple of days. Plants that receive afternoon sun may need water daily.

Feeding Dolce Fresca Basil Plant

The Dolce Fresca Basil Plant is a vigorous grower, but applying a balanced fertilizer every few weeks will support abundant growth. Routine feeding will maintain a full plant and support new foliage.
