Double Dipped® Rainbow Sherbet Coneflower (Echinacea hybrid 'Rainbow Sherbet') features layered yellow-pink blooms that appear from early summer through late in the season. Compact stems, typically reaching about 18 to 22 inches tall, support each flower head for a long-lasting display. The petals form a fluffy, double structure that gives extra fullness compared to standard coneflowers. Choose this cultivar for eye-catching color and strong, upright growth.

Although derived from North American wildflowers, this hybrid shows improved tolerance to heat, drought, and common diseases. Deer rarely bother it, and its minimal care requirements suit busy gardeners. Plant it in mass groupings for a cheery landscape, or tuck it into pollinator borders where butterflies and bees can visit. Its showy heads also bring a fun pop of color to container plantings on patios or decks.

Double Dipped® Rainbow Sherbet Coneflower Care

Position it in full sun, and provide well-draining soil enriched with organic matter. Water regularly during the first growing season, then reduce frequency once the roots become established. Feed in spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer, and maintain a soil pH near 6.0 to 7.0. Occasional watering during extended dry spells preserves healthy blooms.

Deadheading spent flowers prompts continued color, and light pinching in late spring can promote bushier growth. Shear lightly once the main flush subsides. In colder regions, leave some seedheads for wildlife interest or remove them in late fall for a neater appearance. Potted specimens thrive with insulating mulch covering the soil and a spot shielded from harsh winter conditions.

Double Dipped® Rainbow Sherbet Coneflower Spacing

Set plants about 18 to 24 inches apart when creating mass plantings or larger groupings, giving each coneflower room to develop fully. A single specimen in a mixed border needs at least 18 inches of open space all around. Use a container with a minimum diameter of 12 inches for a new coneflower, and size up if combining it with other perennials or if growth exceeds the pot.
