- Full double white Begonias!
Light up your shade garden or fill in the understory of your perennial garden with these fully double white Begonias, or enjoy the dark green/bronze foliage contrast with the pure white blooms in a container, massed out in your landscape or as an easy care houseplant. Wherever you want to plant them, the Double Up White Begonia says “Bring it on”.
Double Up White Begonias are a great companion plant to acid loving shade plants like azaleas and rhododendrons with a pH preference of 5.5 - 6.2, are native to Zones 10a through 11b, but grow as annuals in Zones 3-9. The vigorous globe-shaped plants will continue to bloom all summer with little to no intervention from you. They make an attractive mass planting, or border in your shaded areas.
Double Up White Begonia Care
A good quality garden soil amended with compost that drains well will result in unending blooms. Follow standard guidelines for pest eradication if aphids are noted on your plants, you can find household grade pesticides in any hardware store. Light drought conditions do not distress this plant. They love the heat of summer and are more vigorous than begonias of the past.
No pruning is needed, they deadhead themselves and keep your garden looking bright and clean. Pair with impatiens in full shade, or fill in your full sun perennial garden with these improved hybrids, they are that versatile and easy to care for.
Double Up White Begonia Spacing
Standing tall at 8-18 inches and 6-14 inches wide, this annual hybrid of the less vigorous begonia will brighten your spring and summer garden until frost. Allow 6-12 inches of space between plantings and the almost succulent-like sculpted leaves will fill in nicely throughout the summer.
