Growing Zones
Bring instant winter magic to any room with the lush, snow-white, double petals of Double White Amaryllis. This Hippeastrum 'Alfresco' grows about 18 to 20 inches tall and 6 to 8 inches wide in its container. The 30/32 bulb can produce strong stems with several double flowers, creating a snowy look from just one planted bulb. This gift-ready plant arrives pre-potted in a 6 inch container, so there’s nothing to assemble.
Best Locations For Growing Double White Single Amaryllis
Grow Double White Single Amaryllis on a mantel, side table, kitchen counter, office desk, bedroom dresser, or bright windowsill. Ideal room temperatures are 60–75°F. Amaryllis is not suitable for homes where pets or children may chew plants, since the bulb and plant parts can be toxic if eaten.
Double White Single Amaryllis Sunlight Requirements
Double White Single Amaryllis grows best in bright, indirect light with steady indoor temperatures. An east or west-facing window is a good fit, while a south-facing window can work with light filtering during the brightest part of the day. Rotate the container every few days to keep the flower stalk growing upright.
Double White Single Amaryllis Care
Remove the decorative foil when watering Double White Single Amaryllis so water can drain from the pot. Expect blooms roughly 6–10 weeks after the first thorough watering. The double flowers can be heavy, so use a slim amaryllis stake if the stem begins to lean. Remove spent blooms as they fade, and cut the finished stalk just above the bulb neck once all flowers on that stem are done.
Watering Double White Single Amaryllis
Water sparingly until growth appears, then water when the top half of the soil feels dry. Avoid pouring water into the bulb neck because trapped moisture can lead to rot. Average indoor humidity is fine.
Feeding Double White Single Amaryllis
Do not fertilize Double White Single Amaryllis during its first bloom cycle because the bulb already stores the energy needed for flowering. If saving the bulb for another year, feed during active leaf growth with a diluted houseplant fertilizer every few waterings. You can rest the bulb in fall for potential rebloom the following season.
