Best Locations For Growing Dragon Tree Twister Dracaena

The attention-grabbing foliage of ‘Dragon Tree Twister’ makes it a perfect conversational piece for a living space. Give this plant medium to bright indirect light to thrive. This plant is fairly forgiving and will tolerate brief periods of low light. Keep in mind that this plant is toxic if ingested, so it should be kept away from pets and small children.

Dragon Tree Twister Dracaena Sunlight Requirements

For this Dracaena to thrive, provide it with plenty of medium to bright light. Two or three feet away from an east- or west-facing window is ideal. This plant is able to adapt to low light conditions, but avoid direct sunlight as it might scorch the leaves.

Dragon Tree Twister Dracaena Care

The Dracaena ‘Dragon Tree Twister’ can be pruned in spring or early summer to maintain the size. You can cut off the cane at any height. It will sprout new swirls where it was cut. You should repot this plant in the spring, only if the roots have filled the pot. Young plants may only need to be repotted every 2-3 years. For best results use a terracotta pot with a drainage hole to prevent overwatering.

Watering Dragon Tree Twister Dracaena

Water your dragon tree when the top few inches of soil are dry. Depending on the climate where you live, this may be on a weekly or biweekly basis. This plant prefers moist, but not soggy soil. Overwatering causes root rot, one of the main reasons a Dracaena plant dies. If the leaves begin to turn yellow, try letting your plant dry out more between waterings. ‘Dragon Tree Twister’ prefers high humidity.

Feeding Dragon Tree Twister Dracaena

You should feed this plant every month in the spring and summer with an all-purpose liquid fertilizer, diluted to half the recommended strength. Overfeeding may cause the tips of the leaves to turn brown.
