If you have a shady space that needs some color and beauty, Dragon Wing Pink Begonias are the perfect choice. These vigorous and shade-loving annuals are covered in beautiful pink flowers all summer long. The continuous bloom and mounded habit make Begonias a favorite for containers, large planters, hanging baskets and garden beds.
Show off your Begonias’ constant bloom as a stand-alone plant in containers, baskets or mass plantings. Or, use them as a “thriller” in your annual containers and hanging baskets. Brighten an empty, shady space in the yard, add vibrancy and interest to a tucked-away patio, or soften the edges of a walkway or perennial border with the mounded green and blush of pink flowers.
Dragon Wing Pink Begonia Care
Begonias are tropical plants that are very heat tolerant when planted in the shade. Plant them in an area that gets less than 6 hours of sunlight per day. Apply a balanced fertilizer about once a month in the growing season to keep up with their growth and bloom. Begonias like to be watered on a regular basis, as well. Do not allow them to dry out during hot, dry spells.
Potted Begonias can be brought inside during the winter months if you have the right indoor conditions to care for them. Begonias are tropical plants, so warmth, sunlight and moisture are required to keep them healthy. Dragon Wing Pink Begonias require bright indoor light to thrive, but will get scorched with direct, hot sunlight. Only bring plants that are healthy and pest-free indoors. Expect some leaves to be dropped, but if you keep your Begonia in a bright place and keep it fertilized and watered, you will likely be able to enjoy it another summer outdoors.
Dragon Wing Pink Begonia Spacing
Dragon Wing Pink Begonias are robust growers that can form borders and mass plantings when planted about 10” apart. Plant individual plants 15-18” apart to allow space and discourage encroaching upon other plants’ space. Begonias are a popular choice for containers, hanging baskets and planter boxes, as well. They can be planted closer together in these containers, but be sure to give them space to grow in order to allow them to truly “thrill”.
