Tip: match plant habit to the role for the best designs.
White flowers can disappear in summer glare, but Dreamtime® Jumbo Pure White Strawflower holds its brightness without washing out. The broad, papery bracts stay crisp and luminous from spring through fall, even in high heat. Plants mature at 10–12 inches tall and wide, forming a dense, rounded mound that stays controlled from greenhouse bench to garden bed. Bred in the Dreamtime® series for uniform habit and larger blooms, Bracteantha bracteatum ‘Bondrepuho’ offers a cleaner, fuller look than older white strains.
The texture is part of this strawflower's appeal. Each bloom feels dry and structured, making it one of the best annuals for fresh cutting and long-lasting dried arrangements. Heat tolerance is excellent, and the foliage remains tidy as the season progresses. It handles light deer and rabbit pressure better than many soft annuals. In containers or massed along a sunny border, it delivers steady color without constant grooming.
Dreamtime® Jumbo Pure White Strawflower Care
Grow Dreamtime® Jumbo Pure White Strawflower in full sun for the heaviest bloom set. Choose a sharply drained soil; sandy loam or a high-quality potting mix with added perlite is ideal, with a pH between 6.0 and 7.2. Water deeply after planting, then irrigate when the surface layer feels dry to the touch. Avoid wet feet, particularly during cool spells. Apply a balanced liquid feed every two weeks to maintain bud production through peak summer.
Pinch young plants once to encourage branching if needed. Remove spent flowers regularly to push new buds and keep the plant looking fresh. If growth becomes slightly open in late summer, shear back by a few inches and resume feeding to prompt a new flush. In frost-free zones strawflower may persist, but it should be treated as an annual where winters dip below freezing.
Dreamtime® Jumbo Pure White Strawflower Spacing
Set plants 16 inches apart in landscape beds to allow full mounding and airflow. For patio containers, use one plant per 10–12 inch pot, or group three in a larger bowl for a solid white display.
We recommend Dreamtime® Jumbo Pure White Strawflower when you want a true white that sharpens mixed plantings. In container designs, pair with blue lobelia and silver artemisia for contrast. In sunny garden borders, combine with yarrow and agastache to create a heat-tolerant planting with layered texture.
